SUMMARY:
Attached for your review and approval is the final
draft federal legislative agenda.
The first draft was revised based on comments and
recommendations from stakeholder groups and action by Congress. The funding charts in the document are
lacking federal fiscal year 2005 allocations for New York. Now that Congress has
passed a budget, the U.S. Education Department will in January release state
funding allocations for the programs described. When USED’s funding amounts are
inserted, the charts will show that New York’s shares will be either slightly
increased or reduced from FFY 2004 levels. The completed agenda will be
published before Congress returns at the end of January to begin a new
session.
I
recommend that the Board of Regents take the following
action:
VOTED:
That the Board of Regents approve the Regents Federal Legislative Agenda,
Federal Legislation and Education in New York State,
2005.
