Report of Regents Higher Education Committee to The Board of Regents

Your Higher Education Committee held its scheduled meeting on November 15, 2021. All members of the Committee were present.

MOTION FOR ACTION BY FULL BOARD

Your Higher Education Committee recommends, and we move, that the Board of Regents act affirmatively upon each recommendation in the written report of the Committee’s deliberations at its meeting on November 15, 2021, copies of which have been distributed to each member of the Board of Regents.

MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION

Non-State Aid Budget and Legislative Initiatives - Department staff presented for discussion and further refinement the Higher Education non-state aid budget and proposed legislative initiatives.

Amendment to Section 80-1.1 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Definition of a Year of Experience for Permanent or Professional Certification - Department staff presented a revised amendment to the definition of a “year of experience” that will be acceptable for the Permanent and Professional certificates to provide for greater flexibility in calculating a year of experience, permitting a variety of part-time experiences that could be equivalent to full-time experience in a 12-month period.

Regents Authorization for State University of New York, Empire State College - The Board of Regents voted to authorize SUNY Empire State College to award the Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Degree to students successfully completing the registered business program.
