Report of Regents Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES) Committee to The Board of Regents

Your ACCES Committee held its scheduled meeting on January 14, 2013.  All members were present.  Additional members of the Board attending where:  Regent Phillips, Regent Bendit, Regent Jackson and Regent Cottrell.

Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS)
The Committee was provided with an overview of the current data on the sector, including the numbers of schools, teachers, admissions agents, and complaints against schools. Also provided, was a review of the recent changes to the law, which went into effect on December 15, 2012 and the impact these changes will have on BPSS and the industry as a whole.  In addition, the Committee was informed of the extremely broad scope of career options offered within the sector, along with four video vignettes depicting the types of schools and providing an instant view of the programs locations and instructors, as well as a demonstration of the curricula the students will be exposed to while undergoing the program.
