ACTION ITEMS
Proposed Amendment to Sections 100.19 and 100.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Reimagining the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Accountability System [P12 (A) 1] – Department staff presented a proposal to amend Sections 100.19 and 100.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to adjust the existing framework for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Accountability System. The amendment will begin with the results for the 2024-2025 school year and continue in subsequent years. The changes aim to better align the accountability system with evolving educational priorities and ensure a more effective approach to supporting student achievement, school performance, and educational equity across New York State.
The Committee recommends that the Board of Regents finds that sections 100.19 and 100.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education be amended, as submitted, effective February 11, 2025, as an emergency rule upon a finding by the Board of Regents that such action is necessary for the preservation of the general welfare to immediately align the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education with New York State’s ESSA Accountability State Plan.
The motion passed.
Deputy Commissioner Jason Harmon reviewed the items on the Consent Agenda.
