Report of Regents P-12 Education/Higher Education Joint Meeting Committee to The Board of Regents

Your P-12 Education Committee and Higher Education Committee held a joint meeting on April 14, 2015.

Items not requiring action:

New York State’s Updated Equity Plan.  Your Committees received an update on the U.S. Department of Education’s requirements and the State’s approach to ensuring more equitable access to effective educators for all students.

Teacher Certification Safety Net and Evaluation of Teacher/Leader Preparation Programs.  Your Committees discussed safety net options for the Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), Educating all Students test (EAS), and Content Specialty Tests (CSTs) as well as a provision for a time extension of the existing edTPA safety net.  Your Committee directed staff to prepare regulations for action at the May 2015 Regents Meeting.
