Update on the Certification Examinations
Your Committee received an update on implementation of the new certification examinations and the work of the faculty professional development work at CUNY, SUNY, and the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities.
Clinically Rich Program
Your Committee received an update on the Clinically Rich Teacher Preparation pilot, including examples of collaboration with P-12 partners, offering highlights, impact upon building culture, instructional practice and students and intersections with the Office of Accountability.
Reciprocity Regulation
Staff discussed a proposed regulation to establish a set of standards for teaching candidates from other jurisdictions that will align with those of NYS candidates entering the classroom. It is anticipated that the proposed amendment will be presented to the Board of Regents for adoption at its April meeting. If adopted at the April meeting, the proposed amendment will become effective as an emergency rule on May 1, 2014 and will be permanently adopted on May 14, 2014.
