Report of Regents P-12 Education/Higher Education Joint Meeting Committee to The Board of Regents

Your P-12 Education Committee and Higher Education Committee held a joint meeting on October 20, 2014. Items not requiring action:

Career and Technical Education Certification.  Your Committees received an overview of current pathways and the respective requirements in order to obtain a career and technical education (CTE) teaching certificate. In addition, this presentation explored alternative options for CTE certification such as the model used by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and issues raised by stakeholder groups and the field. Staff provided data regarding the current number of individuals certified and employed in New York State and recommendations regarding possible changes to support those seeking a CTE certificate.
