Background Information
The Museum’s Research & Collections Division is responsible for carrying out research in anthropology, biology, geology, history, and paleontology. Research institutions typically have peer reviews on a regular basis to assess the productivity of the institution and identify areas of concern and areas in need of improvement. The last review of the Museum’s Research & Collections Division was in 1988. At the request of Cliff Siegfried and John Hart, a peer review panel was formed by the Smithsonian Institute. The resulting report identified several issues in need of resolution. Dr. Daniel Roger, chair of the committee, will present a summary of the report and recommendations.
