The Higher Education Committee held its scheduled meeting on December 9, 2024. All members were present except Regent Catherine Collins who was excused. Regent Christine D. Cea, Regent Susan W. Mittler, Regent Shino Tanikawa, and Regent Patrick A. Mannion also attended the meeting but did not vote on any action.

MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION

Proposed Amendment of Sections 52.21 and 80-3.7 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Content Core Requirement for Additional Teaching Certificates in Certain Areas [HE (D) 1] - Department staff presented proposed regulatory amendments to allow candidates who seek one or more additional teaching certificates in certain areas through a registered teacher preparation program or the individual evaluation pathway to certification to complete 18 semester hours of study for the content core in the subject area(s) of such additional certificate(s) rather than 30 semester hours.
