Should the Regents approve the appointment of Kristen Grunder to the Board of Visitors at the New York State School for the Deaf?

Proposed Handling

            This item will come before the Board of Regents for action at the September 2010 meeting.

Procedural History

Each year, as vacancies occur, the Board of Regents approves recommendations to fill such vacancies.

Background Information

            Section 4353 of Education Law requires the Board of Regents to appoint an Advisory Board of Visitors of the New York State School for the Deaf in Rome, NY.

Recommendation

VOTED:  That the Board of Regents approves the appointment of Kristen Grunder to fill a vacancy on the New York State School for the Deaf Board of Visitors and serve a five-year term ending June 30, 2015.  Information on the proposed appointee is noted on Attachment 1.

Timetable for Implementation

            If approved, Ms. Grunder will begin serving at the October 2010 Board of Visitors meeting.

  • Experience managing and building customer and community relations
  • Served on various leadership committees, both locally and nationally

Kristin would replace Patricia Slaski, who resigned as of June 2010.

Kristin has expressed a desire to give back to her community by being involved with the Board of Visitors at the New York State School for the Deaf.
