SEWARD HOUSE MUSEUM

 

Auburn, Cayuga County

 

The board of trustees has petitioned the Board of Regents to form a corporation to collect, own and hold objects relating to William H. Seward and Frances A. Seward and their direct descendants and maintain a permanent collection of objects, manuscripts and research material that are accessible to the public; to interpret the life, accomplishments, social and democratic values of William H. Seward and Frances A. Seward and their immediate descendants; to engage and educate the public concerning historical events through the interpretation of the lives of William H. Seward and Frances A. Seward and their immediate descendants; to care for and maintain the Seward House, grounds and outbuildings as a museum, and make such property accessible to the public; and to foster education, research, and a wider interest in the history of the United States of America.  The Office of Cultural Education recommends that a provisional charter be granted for a period of two years.
