Background Information

       Because no Regents meeting is scheduled for August, each year at the July meeting of the Board of Regents, a resolution is approved by the full Board to permit the Standing Committees of the Board to take interim action on behalf of the Board between the July and September meetings in cases where such action is necessary. 

              Similarly, because no Regents meeting is scheduled for November of this year, it is appropriate that the full Board approve a resolution permitting the Standing Committees to take interim action on behalf of the Board between the October and December Regents meetings. 

              Any interim action taken by a Standing Committee must be reported to the full Board at the September meeting.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Regents take the following action:

VOTED, that the Standing Committees of the Board of Regents, be and they hereby are, authorized to take interim action for the Board of Regents during the period commencing on October 24, 2007 and ending on December 12, 2007 and that any such action shall be reported to the Board at its meeting on December 13-14, 2007.
